Projects Illustrated
Manchester City Centre
A complex conversion incorporating ground and basement level, open
theatre kitchen, fine wine sample room and all the usual restaurant
ventilation services discretely hidden within the ceiling architecture.
The outside treatment creates impact with the use of removeable column
claddings whilst confirming to landlord requirements for no permanent
structural changes.
Case Study 1 - Restaurant
Est Est Est - Alderley Edge, Edinburgh and Manchester
Created from a former car showroom the industrial past is echoed
by fabricated trusses in the kitchen area and Lotus 25
derived support wishbones to the over bar structure.
This project was an even more exciting discovery than at first
imagined. As the former foodstore fittings and partitions were stripped
out the early 19C first floor "saloon" with vaulted decorated plaster
ceiling was exposed. This formed the dramatic rear part of the
restaurant with glass stair approach.
The
frontage onto George Street within the Conservation area was in
frameless glass to leave the original stone surround as the principal
elevation feature.
Public circulation areas in a restaurant are part of a procession - to
see and be seen within a theatrical setting is an integral part of the
enjoyment. The staircase between floors is a key part of this to be
celebrated in style.
